NASA discovered thunderstorms make antimatter and gamma rays

In 2009, NASA's Fermi Space Telescope was struck by a beam of antimatter fired into orbit by a thunderstorm over Egypt, twice in 23 milliseconds. Scientists now believe roughly 500 thunderstorms a day hurl gamma rays and antimatter into space. Here's how an ordinary storm pulls off something out of science fiction.
