The team behind the Indy Pass, clearly, has been knocking on doors and making phone calls.

After already sharing in March that 25 new cross-country and alpine ski areas had joined its independent mountain-focused program, the Indy Pass now plans to share 30 more additions over the next week, culminating in what Indy calls a “keynote” announcement on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The Indy Pass provided no clues hinting at what that announcement will be about, but maybe they’ve locked in a particularly saucy resort or two.

As is routine after new partner announcements in the fall, the Indy Pass is also back on sale as of Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET, but it might not last for long.

Erik Mogensen, Indy Pass’ director, said in a release that during the selling period last spring, the passes sold out in 37 minutes.

Current access starts with waitlist members on a first-come, first-served basis. They’ll have a limited window to grab a pass before any remaining inventory is released to the general public on September 8.

“We won’t oversell the pass and compromise the authentic experience that Indy Pass and its partners deliver,” Mogensen said.

During the waitlist period, the flagship Indy+ Pass, which includes no blackout dates, costs $449. The Indy Base Pass, which has blackout dates, costs $399. Indy didn’t share the price for general public passes.

For the uninitiated, the Indy Pass is an off-the-beaten-path independent-focused alternative to the all-consuming Epic and Ikon Passes. It includes two free days of access at each partner ski area, with 25% off lift tickets for a third day. 

Many of the partnering independent ski areas are smaller and lesser known. Some bigger names are on the list, too—think Jay Peak in Vermont or Levi in Finland—but much of Indy’s appeal rests on encouraging travel to some place you’ve never heard of but actually rocks. And, ideally, has fewer lift lines and traffic jams. 

The following 25 ski areas were added to the Indy program earlier this year. Stay tuned for the other new ski areas later this week.
