A sizable expansion with 62 acres of additional terrain and a new high-speed quad lift is coming to Quebec’s Mont Tremblant ahead of the 2027-28 ski season.

Dubbed Timber Summit, the expansion comes via a CAD $42.5 million investment that also includes a new beginner area set to open at the base of Versant Soleil next winter with a covered magic carpet and snowmaking system. 

The new lift, named the Timber Express, spans nearly 6,000 feet with a vertical drop of about 1,400 feet. Mont Tremblant noted that it’ll feature similar tech to another previously installed lift, the Lowell Thomas Express, which is a high-speed Doppelmayr quad that opened in 2018.

Once installed, the Timber Express will bring skiers into a network of eight new mostly beginner and intermediate trails, seven of which head towards Versant Soleil. The final trail connects with Mont Tremblant’s North Side. Five percent of the trails accessed by the Timber Express will be for experts. 

“Timber Summit represents much more than an expansion of our ski terrain. It reflects our commitment to continually elevating the Tremblant experience and creating new opportunities for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, today’s families, and generations to come,” said Patrice Malo, president and CEO of Station Mont Tremblant, in a release.

Mont Tremblant first announced the project in 2020 and originally planned to open the Timber Summit area during the 2021-22 season.

“Since the original concept was presented, the project has evolved and has been enhanced to better align with the resort’s long-term ambitions,” the release reads, noting that those changes have come with a larger investment. 

Mont Tremblant’s announcement follows the recent news that another separate expansion would debut out East during the 2027-28 season at Loon Mountain, New Hampshire, which is adding a 272 acre swath of gate-accessed expert terrain called Black Ridge.
