Crew begins 8-month Arctic drift as Mars mission test

A 12-person crew has begun an eight-month Arctic Ocean drift aboard the vessel Tara Polaris I, testing human limits for future Mars missions. The European Space Agency-backed mission will also study Arctic biodiversity in one of the fastest-warming regions on Earth. It's the first of 10 planned drifts over the next 20 years.
