Alpaca herd descends the Swiss Alps for winter

Around 70 alpacas made their annual trip down to the Kiental valley in Switzerland after spending the summer grazing the high pastures of the Bernese Alps. The herd crossed rivers, moving through open fields and wound around corners as herders led them on their descent. It’s a seasonal tradition across the Swiss Alps, timed to bring livestock down from the mountains before autumn cold and early snow settle in at elevation.
