Originally scheduled to open next week, California’s Mammoth Mountain opened Thursday after a dumping of 9-15 inches of snow plus cooler conditions. One of the most popular ski destinations in the U.S., it’s the first U.S. ski resort to open outside of Colorado for the 2026-27 season.
