I don’t have a green thumb (quite the opposite, sadly), but receiving flowers brightens up my day. For my family, it’s usually around the tentpole holidays - birthday, Mother’s Day, anniversary - and I look forward to seeing what new arrangement they’ve selected. It doesn’t matter the type, cost or size - even a grocery store bouquet represents the feelings they wish to share.

For the past two years, I've been hand testing a variety of flower services, from Mother's Day bouquets and birthday arrangements, and even condolence flowers. There's been quite a range of prices, flower options and delivery results, but the top pick this year is highly recommended. Prior to the last few years, I’d largely moved away from flowers and concentrated more on unique gifts ideas, but it's been a gentle reminder that sometimes the most simple present can be the most impactful.

Flower Meanings

Floriography: An Illustrated Guide to the Victorian Language of Flowers
(Amazon)

Flowers are both a friendly and romantic staple for a reason; the language of flowers can symbolize so many layers of emotions based on the color and type. The Victorian language of flowers, known as floriography, could express everything from love, affection and desire to jealousy and distrust. Flowers are a subtle way to communicate affection, and though it had fallen out of favor, floriography has seen a resurgence in popularity.

If you’re looking for some flower language inspiration, here’s a list of 25 popular flower meanings. If you’re interested in a more robust encyclopedia of the language of flowers, we might suggest checking out the book below.

Best Flower Delivery Services For Mother’s Day

1. Best Overall: Fresh Sends

Mother's Day Signature Send - Stephanie Quick/weather.com
The Mother's Day Signature Send by Fresh Sends
(Stephanie Quick/weather.com)

I've purchased two bouquets and received one from Fresh Sends, and can say without a doubt that this one of the most reliable delivery services I've ever used. There are currently two limited-time Mother's Day arrangements: The Mother's Day Signature Send for $175, and The Mother's Day Send starting for $105.

My testing: I received The Mother's Day Signature Send and it arrived beautifully wrapped, held firmly in place thanks to the boxing system plus zip tie, so this bouquet was not going to be flung around. It also had a damp paper wrapping to keep the stems moist and fresh during delivery. It arrived, no signs of wilt and slightly cramped together from the wrapping.

The fluted vase was also perfectly sized (no need to trim the stems, I just stuck them right down into the vase) and quite hefty, so it wasn't going to tip over from the weight of the bouquet either.

I also sent The Birthday Send to my mother this year, and she raved about the cookies and the flowers. The flowers lasted for well over a week (which stunned us both), and she said the cookies were so good, she had to limit herself to make them last. The bouquet is a beautiful assortment of soft, dreamy colors and vibrant greens.

The service is on the expensive side compared to some other brands, but I found the bouquet offerings refreshing, reliable, and arrived at their destination in a timely manner with no wilting.

Delivery options:

  • Next day delivery for certain areas and products; for Mother's Day specific bouquets you want to order early
  • Delivers to the lower 48 states of the US, excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and all US territories. Does not deliver to PO Boxes.
  • Next day delivery nationwide, excluding Alaska and Hawaii
  • Additional $3.75 delivery protection option for damage, loss and theft
  • Trustpilot rating: 4.1

While another pricey option, you do get what you pay for with these bouquet bundles. Ode A La Rose has some pretty glowing reviews and a pleasant assortment of options for Mother’s Day, from roses and tulips to preserved flowers that can last up to a year. You can add-on a card, sweets, candles or even a photo. You’ll need to order soon, as available delivery dates fill up fast.

My testing: I wrote about my previous use of the service in my Valentine's Day flower delivery roundup, and they arrived on time. I ordered them about a week and a half in advance, and scheduled to arrive a few days ahead of Mother's Day. They weren't overly wilted in transit, though you can see a few discolored spots. While I've honestly purchased more beautiful bouquets (this was a subdued color palette), the delivery service did it's job. The signature bouquets are very spring-like, full of pastels and interesting flower options.

Delivery options:

  • Same day delivery for certain areas and products
  • Next day delivery nationwide, excluding Alaska and Hawaii
  • Travel vase with water available in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, or Washington, D.C.
  • Trustpilot rating: 4.5

3. The Bouqs Co.

The Bouqs Co. Mother's Day Flowers 2025
Mother's Day Arrangements
(Bouqs.com)

You can order flowers for every occasion, whether you’re celebrating Mother’s Day and birthdays to housewarming or even “get well” gifts. There are a variety of bouquet size options, starting with the classic one dozen roses, up to 36 or more stems of vibrant blooms.

The vase will cost extra, and your flowers will arrive fresh in a recyclable Bouqs box. This is a great option for any DIY'er who may like to create their own masterpiece. Bouqs has noted that there may be some flowers still in bud form depending on the type of flower.

Future testing: I used Bouqs as my Mother's Day bouquet option this year. In some of arrangement options, there are mixed stems, ranging between 12 to 42 stems. In the arrangement I chose, I selected the middle bloom amount (which ended up being 26 stems), but it was too full for normal vase, and too thin for two. The sunflowers in the selection wilted almost immediately, which was disappointing.

Delivery options:

  • Same day delivery for certain areas and products if you order by noon (recipients time zone)
  • Next day delivery if you order by noon (recipients time zone)
  • Subscriptions - flexible and customizable bouquets, recipients and dates
  • Trustpilot rating: 3.8

4. BloomsyBox

(BloomsyBox.com)

According to BloomsyBox, the flowers are fresh from the farms where they are picked, arriving between two to five days after they are cut. The Mother’s Day bouquet options start around $69.99, with a lovely variety of flowers, orchids, and even small potted flowering plants and bonsai.

I'll admit I haven't yet tried this service, though it had come recommended from a few sources. Their reviews do seem to swing rapidly, with some noting that the subscription is hard to turn off, and a few others mentioned the flowers arrived wilted or squished.

Delivery options:

  • Next day delivery available on orders placed before 2:30 p.m. ET, though exclusions may apply
  • TrustPilot rating: 3.7 - it's gone back up after falling to 3.4 last year, but still lower than the original 4.1 rating it had during our first review

5. Artificial Floral Arrangement: Afloral

Afloral™ Preserved Rose Head Flower Gift Box - 18 Rose Heads
Preserved rose head gift box
(Afloral.com)

We appreciate a Mother's Day gift that can last longer than a week, so if your loved one suffers from allergies (or dreads throwing out the dried bouquet), take a look at this Afloral Preserved Rose Head Flower Gift Box. It comes with 18 preserved rose heads in a palette of cream, wine, soft ping and champagne blush hues.

This is one of the more realistic options I’ve found during my artificial floral arrangement search. If the roses aren't to your taste, there are also blooming spring branches and flowers to potted faux plants and other arrangements that could be a timeless centerpiece to any room. This is the best option if you want hyper-lifelike options and prefer to mix and match your own decorations. While the offerings are more on the muted side, the realistic faux blooms can last through any season.

6. Artificial Floral Arrangement: Mandy’s on Amazon

Faux Flower Options
(Amazon)

Our favorite bouquet was the 20-piece artificial Tulip Silk fake flower arrangements, with over 24,000 ratings and 4.5-stars on Amazon. According to Teleflora, the yellow tulips represent cheerful thoughts, and purple represents royalty.

These particular artificial flowers are made of soft polyurethane and the stem is made from plastic, and will need to be assembled. One reviewer included pictures and said, “The petal is some kind of bendable fabric or plastic, and it has pretty ridges that make it look more realistic.” Another said, “These flowers are very beautiful…it was very easy to put together. They feel very soft just like a real flower.”

Final Thoughts

Don’t wait until the last minute - we scoped out some of the best reviewed flower delivery services on the market today, and selected those that had the highest Trustpilot scores and had the most robust delivery options in the U.S. If real flowers can cause some unfortunate allergic reactions, we might suggest checking out the faux flower options instead for both the symbolism of love and respect, as well as providing a long-lasting home decor staple.
