Winter storms causing chills and goosebumps? Check! Frizzy hair thanks to the low humidity? Double check. The Weather Channel merch? Triple check! Here’s my honest review of my new favorite pom-pom beanie I’ll be sporting all winter long.

From the classic dad hat to baseball and trucker caps, I simply don’t have the head size or shape to pull off the look. I’m still mortally offended that I can't wear the most commonly sold hat type.

This season, however, I was lucky enough to take part in launching our new storefront, The Weather Channel Shop. From product curation to testing, I’ll be bringing you brutally honest reviews of all our merch.

Kicking off with my favorite: the royal blue pom-pom beanie with embroidered logo. I’m wearing it to walk the dog, drive into work, visit the barn and all shopping trips in between. And best of all, I’m staying toasty warm despite the wildly fluctuating temperatures in the South.

Our Review

Since I rarely wear hats (only winter beanies), I had others test it too.

The acrylic fabric is very soft and absorbent. When running errands or working at the barn, I can pull it low to cover my ears or position it high enough to wear earbuds comfortably.

My desk mate made the first official purchase and wore it all day in the office. Her verdict? "It's warm, comfy, with zero itch and the perfect fix for a bad hair day! 10/10, I'd buy one for everyone I know!"

The pom-pom is well-made with soft, fine yarn and no uneven stragglers. The logo embroidery is clear and positioned high on the cuff so it won’t fold under when worn.

The "one size fits most" claim is accurate. Despite my fairly small head, it fits perfectly with a little extra fabric on top. The cuff is soft and flexible, not a tight squeeze, so it truly accommodates various head sizes. Multiple office colleagues tried it with no sizing complaints.

My critique: The inner seams could use finer stitching. There are loose threads inside (likely from the pom-pom) that could be better trimmed and tucked away. Due to the fabric type, I also get really warm wearing it indoors, so for me, a little goes a long way. Expect a little static taking it on and off.

Final Thoughts

This pom-pom beanie is my new winter go-to. Stretchy, warm and elastic, it’s perfect for those bitterly cold plunging temps. But don’t just take my word for it; try one out yourself for just under $20 at The Weather Channel Shop.
