2026 fire season on track to be biggest in a decade

The 2026 U.S. wildfire season is on track to be the largest by square miles burned in at least a decade, with roughly 13,200 square miles, nearly the sizes of Maryland and Rhode Island, burned so far. Oregon is having a record-breaking season of its own, with about 4,000 square miles burned. The one bright spot is Alaska, which is seeing its quietest fire season in decades.

I learn more about the weather and how to prepare for it everyday while collaborating with other creatives on how to showcase this to our audience + it's really fun!

Favorite Weather Areas

My favorite weather areas include beaches, primarily St. Simon's Island before it gets too hot in the summer or when summer is over. I also love recreational hiking and parks when the weather is nice. Anywhere I can bring my dog.

Favorite Core Weather Memory

Growing up in North Georgia, we had many thunderstorms that would roll through in the middle of the night. My brother, sisters and I would all wake up and watch the movie, Elf with my parents at 2am to wait for the storm to pass. No matter what season it is, its always Christmas if its storming.
