World's First Chief Heat Officer's Tips

There are multiple systems that could bring wet weather in the U.S. over Mother's Day.

The first system will push off of the mid-Atlantic coast by morning. However, it will then linger off the East Coast, bringing gusty winds and showers to parts of the coast through Sunday. The winds associated with this system could cause rip currents and high surf along the coast from the mid-Atlantic to Florida.

A second system should bring rain and mountain snow to the Northwest.

Here's an idea of what to expect:

Sunday

The system lingering off the East Coast will continue to bring gusty winds, high surf and a few showers to parts of the mid-Atlantic coast Sunday.

Rain and higher elevation snow will continue across parts of the Northwest and northern Rockies as the new frontal system continues the stretch of unsettled weather. Scattered thunderstorms could drench parts of the Northern Plains and upper Midwest.

Temperatures will soar once again in parts of the southern Plains.

Rain and Snow Forecast

Most areas of the U.S. will see less than an inch of rain this weekend. Some higher totals topping an inch are possible near the mid-Atlantic and Pacific Northwest coasts.
