As the system weakens and limps north, rainfall amounts will diminish and be much more scattered than previous days.

That said, pockets of locally heavy rainfall are still possible and some commuting delays are likely both Wednesday morning and afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue into Thursday across much of the Northeast.

Very heavy rain hit the New York City metro area early Wednesday morning and caused localized street flooding. More than two inches of rain fell in just a few hours.
