This is in stark contrast to the main weather theme of record-breaking heat that has dominated this region in the summer of 2012. Below are three of the cities that could be near record lows Friday morning and the details on the hot temperatures they have experienced lately.

  • Kansas City, Mo.- 20 days in the 100s this summer (two in August). Reached 95 degrees on Wednesday.
  • Omaha, Neb.- Hit 94 degrees on Wednesday. Two 100-degree days in August 2012.
  • Dodge City, Kan.- Five 100-degree days in August 2012 so far. Hit 96 degrees on Wednesday.

Several more cities could be within three degrees of daily record lows on Saturday morning. Springfield, Ill., Sioux City, Iowa and Topeka, Kan. are just a few of the locations.

Temperatures across the entire Midwest region will be in the 40s and 50s as you wake up and head out for your morning walk or jog.
