T​he Kentucky Derby forecast is becoming trickier, with a threat of thunderstorms poorly timed for the 150th running of the first leg of the Triple Crown this evening at Churchill Downs.

C​loser Look At The Forecast

After some patchy light rain showers moved through Louisville Friday, dry conditions will gradually emerge today under cloudy skies and mild temperatures. A few scattered showers will be possible, but s​ome breaks of sun are also possible Saturday afternoon.

Saturday Evening's Forecast

By Saturday evening the chance for rain increases a bit. Scattered thunderstorms could develop in the area, including through post time of the Derby at 6:57 p.m. ET.

E​ven if it isn't raining at race time, prior rainfall could lead to a bit of a muddy and slower track. The last time the track at Churchill Downs was considered "sloppy" due to rain was in 2019.
