A​ pair of weather systems will bring wet weather to parts of the South, Midwest and East this week. The South has the greatest risk of some severe weather as well as flooding rainfall.

An isolated severe weather threat is possible through Wednesday: Showers and storms are spreading across the South right now. Below is a look at the latest radar along with any watches and/or warnings that are in effect.

Watches and warnings are issued by the National Weather Service.

A few severe storms today could produce damaging wind gusts, hail and possibly an isolated tornado in the Southeast states, especially in the areas shaded darker orange below. Locally heavy rainfall might trigger flash flooding in spots.

On Wednesday, the Carolinas and portions of the Florida Peninsula might see a few severe storms.

T​he next storm system could produce flooding rain and severe weather late this week. Large to very large hail could accompany severe storms from this new system by Thursday in northern and central Texas.

Heavy rainfall will also be a concern, especially from central and eastern Texas to the lower-Mississippi Valley on Thursday and Thursday night. At least localized flooding is expected, especially in areas that are already saturated by recent downpours.

B​y Friday, the risk of severe thunderstorms and flooding rainfall will spread to the northern Gulf Coast region. More details will be provided in the coming days.
