For the first time ever, heat alerts have been issued in Alaska for hot temperatures incoming this weekend. These alerts first came available for National Weather Service forecasters this month, but it’s a noteworthy first for the state. And even if those highs don’t look “too bad,” keep in mind: this is a state that doesn’t have much infrastructure in place to deal with hot weather.
