An area of low pressure will develop off the Florida coast late Friday and then strengthen as it moves north this weekend, becoming a nor’easter. Strong and persistent onshore winds will produce moderate to major coastal flooding and beach erosion in places like Charleston, the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach. Heavy downpours could also lead to flooding on top of the coastal flooding. Large waves, rough surf and a high risk for rip currents will make it dangerous to be at the beaches.
