Great Lakes Deep Freeze

Rounds of frigid cold temperatures have aided the annual freezing of the Great Lakes since early January, but the lakes' freezing accelerated after Winter Storm Gianna brought the coldest air of the season to much of the East. Lake Erie is now nearly completely frozen, but it is generally the first lake to freeze. When the lakes freeze over, the lake-effect snow season is over.
