Rain, Mountain Snow Headed For West

February 8, 2026

Much of the West has been enduring above-average temperatures and below-average snowfall, which has really impacted the snowpack across the West. Fortunately, that pattern will change, bringing some rain and much needed mountain snowfall to the West. Rainfall of 1-3 inches is possible across the lower elevations and pockets of snowfall across the highest elevations could exceed 5 inches. Even Salt Lake City, which has only seen 0.1 inches of snowfall this season, could see some of the white stuff. Watch for the latest forecast.
