A ridge of high pressure will build in across the West and bring the heat starting Thursday. The heat will continue to intensify this weekend before spreading into the Plains early next week. Dozens of records will be in jeopardy with forecast highs in the triple digits in Las Vegas, Phoenix and across the Central Valley in California.
