It has been one of the driest starts to the year for the Southeast as drought increases across the region. The extreme drought has helped numerous wildfires quickly spread out of control, and firefighters are working hard to battle the blazes. Mother Nature is providing at least some assistance in the form of some light showers, but the region will need significantly more rainfall spread out over a long period of time to see substantial drought relief.
