The Moon Is Rusting — And Earth Is To Blame

Planetary scientists discovered the moon is slowly rusting, and Earth may be responsible. Their research, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, shows that oxygen particles escaping our atmosphere are hitching a ride on "Earth wind" and slamming into the lunar surface. There, the oxygen reacts with iron-rich minerals to form a type of rust.
