Part condo tower, part greenhouse and part vertical farm, a planned residential development in Berlin known as "Green8" is a project its architects hope will transform the traditional high-rise experience into a vision for a vertical garden city.

Agnieszka Preibisz and Peter Sandhaus, the two Berlin-based architects behind the project, say the design for the conceptual tower project is about "reestablishing our connection to nature and gardening."

"Green8 reflects a dream come true," the architects explain. "Living in the center of the city with breathtaking panorama views, while having one's own vegetable garden on one's doorstep."

The design is fueled by Preibisz  and Sandhaus' desire to build for the future, when cities will likely be more densely populated than ever. Green8 would give residents an opportunity to enjoy fresh tomatoes and cucumbers straight from their own gardens, while they could also enjoy the tower's restaurant, health spa, elder care and kindergarten facilities, and the pool bar at the top of the tower, with a 360-degree view of the city.
