The Thames Garden Bridge is an exciting new proposal that could change London's landscape.

Designed by Thomas Heatherwick and landscape design firm Arup, the greenery-lined bridge would link the north and south banks of the city.

"As one of the greenest cities of its size in the world, this precious new piece of landscape will add to London’s rich and diverse horticultural heritage of heathlands, parks, squares, allotments and community gardens and support many indigenous river edge plant species," Heatherwick Studio says.

As express.co.uk.com reports, actress and bridge supporter Joanna Lumley said: "This garden will be sensational in every way; a place with no noise or traffic where the only sounds will be birdsong and bees buzzing and the wind in the trees and below the steady rush of water."

A group called the Garden Bridge Trust has formed to keep the project moving ahead. They're taking public comments and reaction through Dec. 20. The project could be approved in the spring, allowing building to start in 2015.
