First Moderate Severe Threat Since Last Year In Midwest

The Storm Prediction Center has issued its first Moderate risk (level 4 out of 5) of severe weather for Tuesday’s severe weather potential in the Midwest in Illinois and Indiana. Damaging winds and very large hail are possible, but very large tornadoes are the main concern for the region. The severe threat stretches southward into the Southern Plains, where there is another region of elevated concern. Several major cities are included in the areas at highest risk for severe storms. Flash flooding is also possible, especially where storms track over ground that is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall.
