Massachusetts State Police came to the rescue of a black-and-white dog that found itself racing against traffic in one of Boston's major tunnels last Thursday morning.

The canine's dangerous journey through the Ted Williams Tunnel was captured on surveillance cameras operated by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The footage shows the dog darting through traffic lanes as vehicles speed past, eventually pressing itself against the tunnel wall to avoid the rush of cars and trucks.

Additional footage documents the rescue operation, showing half a dozen state police cruisers strategically positioned throughout the tunnel. Despite initially fleeing from an approaching trooper, the wayward pup ultimately decided to seek refuge by jumping into the back seat of one of the patrol cars.
