Mateo will move eastward Saturday, bringing winter weather throughout the Midwest and the interior Northeast. The large swath of snow will stretch from the Rockies and Plains to the Northeast through Sunday. In addition to snow, the storm is bringing freezing rain and ice to parts of Missouri and Oklahoma, slickening roads.

At least two deaths have been attributed to Winter Storm Mateo, one during a multi-vehicle pileup in Michigan on Friday. A man in his 60s died of a heart attack while shoveling snow in Naperville, Illinois, on Friday.

Winter weather advisories are in effect from parts of Colorado and northern New Mexico into the Plains and Mississippi Valley, as well as parts of northern Ohio to southwestern New York. Advisories also stretch from northern New York into northern New England. These areas can expect slippery roads and reduced visibility.

Chicago's O'Hare and Midway airports cancelled hundreds of flights on Friday and Saturday. Detroit Metropolitan airport canceled 300 flights as well, according to FlightAware.

At least 6 inches of snowfall is expected in the Colorado Rockies and eastern Maine through Sunday evening. Higher elevations may see up to a foot of snow. Most areas in Mateo's path will see 1 to 4 inches.
