The photographer uses a special tilt-shift technique that creates a minimized illusion in his photographs. All of his photos are taken from high perspectives like rooftops, helicopters and even drones. As his camera lens points down on areas like the Brooklyn Bridge, cars are immediately pulled into an ant-sized world.

As a student, Leonard experimented with redesigning lenses, eventually creating lens attachments with mirrors to photograph reality in a very unique expression. The special lenses allowed Leonard to blur both the foreground and background in his images, which creates the illusion of a macro world.

Leonard has taken his unique tilt-shift photo techniques around the world, photographically shrinking cities like Antwerp and Belgium too. Published by Lanoo Publishers, "New York Resized" — as well as books on Antwerp and Belgium — is available for purchase online
