The wildlife photos above seem to beg for silly captions and are worthy of becoming memes. Some show off a sense of mischievousness, such as Michou von Beschwitz's photo of an Arctic fox making off with a photographer's camera, while other animals seem to be caught in an unexpected predicament, like the squirrel performing a split between two sprigs of blooming flowers in Geert Weggen's image.

The contest has been running for the past four years, receiving thousands of entries every year. Photographers are not allowed to enter any images of domesticated or captive animals, such as pets or zoo animals. The grand prize is a one week safari in Kenya for two with Alex Walker's Serian safari camps, and the award-winning photo will be displayed around the world.

Click through the slideshow above to see some of the hilarious entries from this year's competition. Visit the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards website for more info or to enter.
