Hurricane Florence inundated parts of the Carolinas with major flooding and dangerous winds, killing more than three dozen people.

The storm has set rainfall records from a tropical system in both North and South Carolina, dumping feet of rain on its slow trek through the states.

Days after the storm, thousands of residents have still been unable to return home, as flooded roads have cut off entire towns from the outside world.
