The Bond Fire in California's Orange County grew to more than 11.25 square miles by Friday morning. Residents of Modjeska, Silverado and Williams canyons as well as Foothill Ranch and parts of Portola Hills were under mandatory evacuation orders Thursday, with voluntary evacuation orders covering part of the Lake Forest community and Borrego Canyon, Baker Ranch, Live Oak Canyon, Trabuco Canyon, Rose Canyon and Valley Vista Way and Meadow Ridge Drive.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, there are reports that multiple structures may have been damaged from the fire, which began as a house fire and spread rapidly due to Santa Ana winds.

Photos above show Silverado resident Bruce McDougal using a garden hose to attempt to save his home as nearby vegetation burns. Entire vehicles can be seen engulfed in flames in the community as well.

More than 500 firefighters were dispatched to battle the fire, the Orange County Fire Authority tweeted. The Orange County Fire Authority also tweeted on Thursday that two firefighters were injured and hospitalized.

Red flag warnings are in effect across Southern California as the Santa Ana winds and dry conditions make for a major wildfire threat. Gusts topping 75 mph were recorded in several locations in the state Wednesday night, the National Weather Service reported.

More than 130,000 customers were without power Thursday morning Southern California, as utilities cut power as a preventative measure, but by Friday morning, that number was down to about 47,000, according to poweroutage.com.
