California was pummelled by heavy winds, rain and snow bringing the potential for deadly mudslides and flooding Wednesday.

The storm knocked out power to more than 400,000 homes and businesses early Wednesday. The winds also toppled trees which blocked roads, and one tree damaged a home in Sacramento, ripping of part of the roof and siding, which can be seen in the photos above.

Thousands of residents in San Mateo County and neighboring Santa Cruz County were under evacuation orders due to the threat of debris flows in nearby wildfire scars due to the CZU Lightning Complex Fire.
