Rescue teams were working continuing to work to free 35 workers from a tunnel at a power plant in the northern state of Uttarakhand. The workers were trapped in the tunnel as it filled with debris and mud when the flood occurred.

The flood waters damaged two dams and inundated villages, destroying an unknown number of houses as well as washing away several bridges. About 13 villages have been cut off due to the destroyed bridges, according to The Times of India.
