Major flooding killed at least five people in middle Tennessee over the weekend as crews worked to rescue at least 150 others trapped as waters rose.

Donna Adams, 61, of Surgionsville, Tennessee, was reported dead Sunday afternoon after her car was swept off the road and into the flooded Big Creek in Hawkins County, according to the Kingsport Times News.

In Nashville, the body of a 70-year-old man was recovered Sunday morning in from a Honda sedan that was submerged in floodwaters from a nearby creek.

Another presumed flooding victim, Douglas Hammond, 65, was found deceased on the Nashboro Village golf course, and two additional flooding victims, a 64-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, were found dead near a homeless camp near Nashville's Wentworth-Caldwell Park, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The area has been dealing with extensive flooding as heavy rains soak middle Tennessee, sparking water rescues and evacuations in Nashville and surrounding towns. Nashville Mayor John Cooper declared a state of emergency in the city.

Photos show the flooded Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee, where the Food City Dirt Race was to take place on Sunday. Races were postponed until Monday due to the flooding.
