Monday and the early hours of Tuesday brought the Pink supermoon, a full moon that appeared larger and brighter than normal because of its proximity to Earth.

Photographers around the world took the opportunity to photograph the moon from different vantage points, and the slideshow above allows us to see what the moon looked like from different cities, such as Paris, New York, Sydney and more.

The April full moon is called the "Pink Moon" because of the pink flowers that often appear around the same time of year. ABC4 reported that the moon is named specifically for the herb pink moss, also called creeping phlox, moss phlox or mountain phlox, one of the earliest spring flowers to bloom in the U.S.
