Photos show houses up in flames on Thursday as the Fawn Fire burned about 10 miles north of Redding in California's Shasta County. The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon.

The Associated Press reported that 25 structures were destroyed by the blaze, and 2,000 others were under threat. Evacuation orders were underway for at least 4,000 people.

The fire was 10% contained as of Friday morning, and had burned more than nine square miles, according to CalFire.

Cal Fire Shasta-Trinity Unit posted on their Facebook that a 30-year-old Palo Alto woman was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of starting the fire.

California has seen 7,618 fires this year which have burned 3,671 square miles, according to the California Statewide Fire Summary. The fires have destroyed more than 3,200 homes, commercial properties and other structures.

Firefighters are currently battling two large forest fires within Sequoia National Park, which is threatening the world-famous, thousands-years-old sequoia groves.
