Flash flooding brought as much as 13 inches of rain to parts of central Alabama between Wednesday and Thursday, killing four.

Flash flooding brought as much as 13 inches of rain to parts of central Alabama between Wednesday and Thursday, killing four.

One of the people killed was a 4-year-old child who was found in floodwaters outside of Huntsville, Alabama.

Another victim, an 18-year-old female, was recovered in the Union Grove area, according to AL.com

Two people who were previously reported missing in Hoover, Alabama, were found dead on Thursday. There were reports that their vehicle was seen plunging into a flooded creek.

The flood submerged cars in metro Birmingham and parts of the Tennessee Valley, and rescue crews helped motorists escape the life-threatening driving conditions.

The Associated Press reported that 82 people were rescued from homes and more than 15 were rescued from vehicles in Pelham, outside of Birmingham.

Floodwater inundated businesses in a shopping center in East Brewton, sending as much as 3 feet of water into the local Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
