A strong autumn storm named Storm Ignatz brought damage and power outages across Germany on Thursday.

Ignatz is the first strong autumn storm of the year. Photos show damage to buildings and downed trees throughout the country.

Rail service was suspended in Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt due to the storm, and many other locations faced severe rail service disruption such as cancelations and delays, German English language news site, The Local reported.

There were also about 50,000 people throughout Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia without power on Thursday, according to The Local.

Authorities warned people to stay away from wooded areas, as many trees were falling in the storm.

The storm first swept over France where it was called "Storm Aurore." The storm brought flash floods to the Brittany region and caused damage to homes in the north of France. Around 120,000 homes were still without power in France Thursday afternoon
