A cargo ship became stranded after it ran aground on the southeastern coast of Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean during the recent Tropical Cyclone Batsirai.

The gallery above shows images of the Tresta Star after it was stranded along the Saint-Philippe commune of the island, right at the spot of a lava flow created by a 2007 eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano. The cargo ship had 11 crewmembers aboard, and all were rescued.

Now, operations are underway to remove fuel from the Mauritius-based ship so a leak doesn't occur, according to Reunion Island news outlet La Quotidien.

Batsirai soaked Reunion Island late last week before moving into Madagascar, an island hit hard by several recent storms. According to the Associated Press, Batsirai killed at least 92 people in Madagascar. Twelve people were injured on Reunion Island, French media outlet RFI reported.

Reunion Island is a French overseas department located in the Indian Ocean about 400 miles east of Madagascar.
