At least three people were killed in a landslide at a hotel in San Carlos de Bariloche in Argentina's Patagonia region on Monday.

The victims were a 78-year-old Uruguayan tourist and his sister and brother-in-law, all visiting Argentina on a family vacation, local news source Clarín reported. Authorities confirmed that up to 50 guests were staying at the hotel when the landslide struck.

A witness said that the scene was chaotic and that the event "sounded like some kind of explosion," according to an interview done by Reuters.
