Photos show flooding inundating homes and vehicles in Charleston and in towns in Fayette County, West Virginia.

Water rescues were conducted as flash floods struck Charleston, West Virginia, and nearby areas on Monday morning.

Metro 911 reported that they received more than 500 emergency calls and performed 25 water rescues by Monday morning. Photos show flooding inundating homes and vehicles in Charleston and in towns in Fayette County, West Virginia.

Some areas received 4 inches overnight, and rainfall rates reached up to an inch and a half per hour at one point. The National Weather Service extended their flood warning for Kanawha and Fayette counties until 2:30 p.m. Monday.

According to WCHSTV.com, more than 100 houses sustained flood damage in Kanawha County's Campbell Creek. At least two bridges were washed out in the Hughes Creek.
