Photos Of The Plains' Deadly Tornado Outbreak

A​t least two are dead after a tornado outbreak struck the Southern Plains over the weekend. Several others were injured in the incident as well.

T​he storms raged through Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, destroying dozens of homes and businesses.

P​hotos show homes with roofs torn off as well as some completely flattened in Powderly, Texas. In Idabel, Oklahoma, Trinity Baptist Church was ripped to shreds, and a medical center and school were destroyed as well, according to The Associated Press.

“There was total destruction on the south and east sides of Idabel,” McCurtain County Emergency Management Coordinator Steven Carter told the Texarkana Gazette.

F​lash flooding hit some areas as the storms struck. At least one person was still missing Monday after a vehicle was washed away by floodwaters.

A​t least 50 homes were damaged in Lamar County, and 10 people were hospitalized, including two with critical injuries. Judge Brandon Bell declared a disaster in the area, clearing the way for federal assistance and funding.
