The final total lunar eclipse until 2025 played out Tuesday morning as onlookers stared skyward in awe, watching the Earth's shadow slowly envelop the moon.

The eclipse was seen from Asia and Australia to the United States in areas where clear skies were present. Totality lasted for nearly an hour and a half as the moon turned a brilliant shade of red.

This eclipse was also referred to as the blood moon, named for the rusty shade that covers the moon during totality. This was the second total lunar eclipse to occur this year.
