A​t least two people are dead after a severe weather outbreak that spawned several tornadoes struck the South on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

P​hotos and video show a severely damaged apartment building and damaged homes in Eutaw, Alabama, where a tornado touched down. S​evere weather reports stretched from Texas to Kentucky, with Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana receiving considerable damage from reported tornadoes and severe storms.

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service showed that suspected tornadoes touched down in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi, damaging homes and buildings, scattering debris and downing powerlines.

The two fatalities were confirmed in Montgomery County, Alabama, after a tornado struck the Flatwood community, downing a tree that struck the home the two were occupying, according to Christina Thornton, director of the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency. There were reports of several injuries in the county as well.

Two were reported injured in Louisiana's Caldwell Parish which sustained heavy damage from the storms.

M​ore than 82,000 customers were without power in the South late Wednesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.
