S​evere weather continued in the South Wednesday, with a possible tornado causing severe damage in Montgomery County, Alabama, overnight.

M​inor injuries were reported, as well as major damage to homes and buildings, flipped cars and downed power lines in east Montgomery. The storm struck shortly after 3 a.m. CST Wednesday. No deaths have been reported.

P​hotos show damage to buildings and cars in Montgomery Wednesday, as well as damage in Jessieville, Arkansas, as well as Montrose, Arkansas, where possible tornadoes struck earlier in the week. Seven school buildings were damaged at Jessieville High School, according to the Garland County Sheriff's Office, but no injuries were reported. Video footage showed the moment the tornado struck the high school's football field.

T​he National Weather Service had received reports of tornadoes and severe weather from at least 10 states on Tuesday, including Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina.

T​ornado warnings sounded in parts of Kentucky early Tuesday, and flooding was reported in Muhlenberg County. Several water rescues were conducted from the road and from homes in the county, and schools in the Muhlenberg County as well as in Ohio County were closed due to the flooding. There were also reports of major road damage in Leitchfield, Kentucky, Tuesday morning due to flooding.

Flooding submerged several cars on Interstate 55 near Memphis, Tennessee, on Tuesday, bringing traffic to a halt on the roadway.

O​n Monday, storms brought damage to Jonesboro, Louisiana, knocking down trees and prompting the National Weather Service to warn of a particularly dangerous situation that evening. There were reports of storm damage in Union Parish as well.

Flooding was reported in Paragould, Arkansas, Monday, where water rescues were conducted in flooded areas.

S​evere storms could spawn possible tornadoes in the Southeast Wednesday, and tornado watches are in effect until early Wednesday afternoon stretching from parts of South Carolina to southern and eastern Georgia and northern Florida. However, damaging winds are the main threat with this system.
