Severe Weather Strikes The South (PHOTOS)

S​evere weather struck the Southeast Thursday, leaving at least 7 dead and many more injured. At least three dozen reports of tornadoes took place across Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Kentucky.

A​ tornado in Autauga County, Alabama killed six people and destroyed dozens of homes. In Jackson, Georgia, about 40 miles southeast of Atlanta, a 5-year-old child was killed when a tree fell on a car.

A particularly large tornado tore through Selma, Alabama, damaging several homes and businesses. Photos show damage from Selma as well as across Alabama and Georgia, with roofs torn off houses and buildings and debris scattered across roads.

T​here were still people unaccounted for in Autauga County, according to the county's Emergency Management director, Ernie Baggett, though the number of missing individuals wasn't clear.
