Though it looks like it leads to a mysterious destination in the clouds, the Črni Kal viaduct in Slovenia is actually covered in a dense fog that creates nerve-wracking driving conditions.

“A stubborn weather pattern featuring several low pressure systems has been plaguing parts of southern and central Europe. This has left Slovenia in the middle, with excessive low-level moisture and prolonged foggy conditions,” said weather.com meteorologist Quincy Vagell.

Storm chaser and photographer Marko Korošec captured eerily beautiful photos of the massive bridge that show it curving and seemingly disappearing into the fog.

Located on the A1 motorway, the bridge is the longest and highest in Slovenia, standing 328 feet above the underlying Osp Valley.

For days, the bridge linking Slovenia to coastal areas and the Adriatic sea has been swallowed by fog. At night, the creeping smoke is illuminated by headlights, street lamps and traffic lights.

Above is a slideshow of Korošec’s shots of the Črni Kal.
