As summer approaches, make sure your home is ready for the next big thunderstorm.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, thunderstorms are most likely in the spring and summer months, as they thrive during periods of elevated warmth and moisture. If one is headed your way, decrease your chances of damage by keeping doors and windows closed and trimming shrubbery that could fall on your roof.

Post-storm, be sure to stay away from downed power lines as well as flooded roadways. Unless you know how deep the water is, don't take the risk of driving through.
