Have you heard of “lightning sprites?” NASA says they’re one of the “least understood electrical phenomenon in Earth’s upper atmosphere.” One astronomer managed to capture a photograph of this rare electrical phenomenon as a storm passed over Slovakia. The eerie-looking flash is the result of intense thunderstorm electrification.
