If you're in a boat on the Amazon River you might expect to see some fish swimming around. If you're really lucky, you might even spot a boto, also known as the Amazon River Dolphin.

But what Carter Roberts of the World Wildlife Fund saw is even rarer than either of those. Roberts was lucky enough to catch a rare black jaguar going for a swim next to his boat.

Seeing a huge cat swimming in the Amazon River might sound unusual, but it's even less likely than you might think: The WWF believes there may only be 600 of these cats left on Earth.

The jaguar was seen in Juruena National Park, which was created by Brazil's Amazon Region Protected Areas Program — the largest tropical forest conservation project in history.
