(Photos) May's Full Flower Moon Dazzles Around The World

Whether you call it the flower moon, budding moon, planting moon, milk moon or one of its many other names, May's full moon is a dependable delight. Warm (but (hopefully) not too hot nights) made the sight, which occured on Monday, a pleasure to observe around much of the world, and we have the photos to prove it! Here's how our satellite looked to photographers around the globe.

A photographer on England's North East coast caught the flower moon rising through the sea mist at St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. Givin the moon's position right above three large chimneys, it almost looks like a strange bubble the house is blowing.

I have to admit, this one is my favorite of the bunch. This dramatic photo shows the flower moon rising behind the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sunion, Greece. This temple is estimated to have been built between 444 to 440 BCE, meaning it's almost 2,500 years old.

Outside of the Southeast, much of the U.S. had clear skies and good visibility for moon-gazing. This photo shows the flower moon rising behind the Kansas City Convention Center. Note the clarity of the craters, here.

As the moon will inevitably rise, it will also inevitably set. Here's an image of the flower moon setting behind the St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg, Russia, early on Tuesday morning.
